Our Kindergarten Classes have greatly enjoyed learning about the Atlantic Salmon through our classroom fish hatchery and John Kendell, School Co-Owner and environmentalist. We are fortunate to have John and his environmental resources, as well as the support of the Credit River Anglers’ Association and the Ministry of Natural Resources. This field trip will continue to provide our children at Kendellhurst Academy with a unique and rewarding educational experience. We waited in anticipation for our fish to mature to the point of final release in the Credit River. It has been very exciting to follow their progression, and we look forward to release day!

We have also planned to plant some trees and have a picnic lunch at the park. All costs for this trip will be covered by Kendellhurst Academy. We hope that you can join us!

Each class will celebrate their own Valentine Party with special activities for the children on Friday, February 12th, 2010. All parties will be held during our morning program. Each class has posted their activity plans on their Parent Information Board. We remind you to check these boards daily for all planned special activities as we would not want your child to miss out on the fun!

Dear families,

Thank you to all families who participated in our Toys for Tots program. We had another successful year of helping families in the immediate area give their children a fun and exciting Christmas. Our kindergarten children also did very well with collecting items for donation, and providing food baskets for families in the area! Thank you as well to all the children and families who participated in this program. As many of you already know, Kendellhurst Academy has a specific mandate to foster social responsibility in our children. We do so through our curriculum plan, Virtues Program, and by a variety of activities and events that the children and you, our parent body, help us bring to fruition throughout the year. From the kindergarten children sponsoring a World Vision child on a monthly basis at each of our preschool campuses, to toy, food and clothing drives, our goal is to encourage an altruistic and global citizenship spirit within our children. We are always happy to hear that parents are on board with this mandate, and see how this affects the children in a positive way, and nurtures their minds and spirits.

In our January newsletter sent via e-mail, please take a peek and share with your child the fruits of our social responsibility. The attached photograph slide show is from Haiti. The photographs are from the children who are benefiting from our November clothing drive! Their orphanage survives mainly on donations. With the slideshow come wishes for a happy new year from the children in Haiti!

Dear families,

On December 15th and 16th, David Tomas, from Funfit Kids lead our children through a series of fun, educational and action packed activities. This interactive and exciting session reinforced our health and body awareness program. David is an exuberant, knowledgeable and energetic leader. His age and developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum included lots of colourful equipment, silly and fun music, and get and boogie exercises! We look forward to having David back in the New Year!
